Quiet Balance is an asymmetrical fiber work built around the challenge of physical balance. As the piece was trimmed and adjusted, small changes repeatedly shifted its center of gravity, requiring a counterweight to allow it to hang level. A single row of beads was added not as decoration, but as a structural necessity.
The work incorporates found branches collected from my property in Sanger, Texas, paired with leather and fiber chosen to read as a continuous system rather than separate elements. Floral knotting patterns reference growth and softness, while the overall form remains intentionally understated. The piece reflects balance as something maintained through adjustment rather than achieved as a fixed state.
